Recall of 'Inside Out' Event Cinema Cup

Inside-Out Cup

The ACCC is urging parents and carers to immediately dispose of ‘Inside Out’ cups that were sold as part of a promotion at Event Cinemas.

15,000 cups have been sold by Event Cinemas since June.

ACCC testing has revealed that the product is unsafe and poses an unacceptable risk of death or serious injury. The lid contains three button batteries to light up the cup. The compartment containing the potentially dangerous batteries is not adequately secured and there is an unacceptable risk of children being able to access the button batteries.

The product has not been distributed elsewhere. A list of Event Cinemas is available here

Button battery safety - what to do:

  1. Keep coin-sized button batteries and devices out of sight and out of reach.
  2. Examine devices and make sure the battery compartment is secure.
  3. Dispose of used button batteries immediately. Flat batteries can still be dangerous.
  4. If you suspect a child has swallowed a button battery, immediately go to a hospital emergency room. Do not let the child eat or drink and do not induce vomiting.
  5. Call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 for additional treatment information.
  6. Tell others about the risk associated with button batteries and how to keep their children safe.
  7. Report any suspected unsafe product to either the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission or your local (state/territory based) product safety regulator.
